If there were an official dessert of summer, I think s’mores would be hard to beat. Toasted marshmallows, Hershey’s chocolate, and graham crackers are a combination most of us grew up with, and they’re still just as good today.
Walking s’mores have all those familiar flavors tucked into a bag of Teddy Grahams. If you’ve never had s’mores in a bag before, they’re a fun twist on the original. No campfire. No roasting sticks. Just a fun dessert in a bag that’s easy to hand out and easy to eat.
When my kids were younger, not a summer or fall went by without at least a few evenings around the fire pit. We always seemed to be competing for the perfect toasted marshmallow. Mine took a little longer because I liked it lightly browned on the outside and completely melty inside. The impatient marshmallow roasters usually ended up with something black and flaming.
These little s’mores bags bring back those memories without needing a fire. Think of them as s’mores to go. They have all the flavors you’d expect from a s’more, just in a form that’s a lot easier to serve at a party. No balancing graham crackers, no sticky fingers, and no chocolate sliding out the sides.
You can assemble them yourself or set out the ingredients and let everyone build their own. A walking dessert bar with these s’mores bags and my Walking Strawberry Cheesecake is always a fun option.

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
Teddy Grahams
Teddy Grahams are what make this dessert work so well. These little Teddy Graham s’mores are easy to assemble because the snack bags are already portioned and ready to fill. They’re sold in 10-count boxes.
If you can’t find the snack-size bags, you can make the same dessert in small disposable cups using Teddy Grahams from a regular box.
Mini Marshmallows
Mini marshmallows are easy to scatter throughout the bags so you get a little marshmallow in every bite.
If you’d like things a little gooier, marshmallow fluff works well too.
Instant Chocolate Pudding
Chocolate pudding turns these from a snack bag into an actual dessert. I make it with whole milk because it gives the pudding a richer, creamier texture.
Hershey’s Chocolate Bars
For me, this is what makes it feel like a real s’more. I use some pieces for garnish and chop the rest into small chunks for mixing into the bags.
Milk chocolate chips can be substituted if needed, but I’d skip semi-sweet since it changes the classic s’mores flavor quite a bit.
How to Make Walking S’Mores
Detailed recipe and instructions are in recipe card at bottom of post.
Make the pudding
Whisk the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk together for 2 minutes according to the package directions. Refrigerate for about 5 minutes so it can thicken.
Get the Teddy Grahams ready
Carefully open the Teddy Grahams snack bags and fold the tops outward to make them easier to fill and hold.
Remove a couple of Teddy Grahams from each bag and set them aside for garnish. If you’re creating a dessert bar, this step can be done ahead of time.
Chop the chocolate
Break two Hershey bars into individual sections and place them in a bowl for garnish. If you’re assembling the bags yourself, you can use one garnish piece per bag and save yourself a little chocolate.
Break the remaining Hershey bar into sections and roughly chop it into smaller chunks.
Build the s’mores bags
Divide the pudding among the bags. Add mini marshmallows and chopped chocolate pieces.
You’ll have more than enough pudding, and I usually add one extra spoonful on top.
Top each bag with the reserved Teddy Grahams and Hershey pieces.
Serve right away
The longer the pudding sits in the bags, the softer the Teddy Grahams become. For the best texture, wait until just before serving to fill them.
Tips for the Best Walking S’Mores
- Whole milk makes the pudding richer and creamier.
- Don’t fill the bags until just before serving or the Teddy Grahams will soften.
- I usually add an extra spoonful of pudding to each bag since there’s plenty to go around.
- For parties, set everything out buffet-style and let guests build their own walking s’mores.
Walking S’Mores FAQs
Can I make walking s’mores ahead of time?
You can prepare all of the ingredients ahead of time, but wait until shortly before serving to assemble the bags.
Can I use marshmallow fluff?
Yes. Marshmallow fluff gives the bags a gooier texture and works well as a substitute for mini marshmallows.
Can I make these for a dessert bar?
Absolutely. Set out bowls of pudding, marshmallows, chocolate, and Teddy Grahams bags so guests can create their own walking desserts. It’s one of my favorite s’mores station ideas for parties because everyone can build their own bag.
Can I make walking s’mores without the Teddy Grahams snack bags?
Yes. If you can’t find the snack-size bags, use Teddy Grahams from a regular box and layer everything into small disposable cups instead. You’ll get the same flavors and individual portions, just without the bag.
