Ranch Oyster Crackers

Ranch is one of those flavors that it’s hard to get enough of and this easy snack recipe features it front and center.

Ranch Seasoned Oyster Crackers are simply regular oyster crackers that you take to the next-level with a ranch-seasoned, butter coating.

They’re baked in the oven, low and slow, so all the bits of ranch, dill and garlic stick to the extra crispy crackers.

These little guys are great for munching on or for tossing in a bowl of soup. No matter how you eat them, let me tell you, these seasoned crackers are ridiculously addictive!

Why You’ll Love these Seasoned Crackers

Easy to prep. Prepping the seasoned melted butter, coating the crackers and spreading them onto a baking tray, only takes 5 minutes (if that).

Only 5 ingredients, and you can keep four of them on-hand in the pantry to make this quick snack at a moment’s notice. You just need to add butter, and chances are, you already have that, too.

Super tasty snack great for setting out for football watching, movie night or parties. They’re also delicious with tomato soup, and you can even crush them up to make bread crumbs.

Ingredients Needed

Oyster Crackers – This recipe uses one 9 ounce bag or box of oyster crackers.

I’ve seen two sizes of oyster crackers in the store. I prefer the larger Nabisco Premium ones.

Butter – Unsalted butter is best for this recipe since the crackers are already salty. You will need one stick (1/2 cup).

If you prefer to use oil in place of butter, substitute in about 1/3-1/2 cup canola or olive oil, keeping in mind that it changes the overall taste.

Ranch Seasoning Mix is a blend of tangy buttermilk, herbs, onion and garlic and what makes these coated crackers next level.

You can use a pre-measured envelope of Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning or if you have a jar of this seasoning blend on-hand, use 3 tablespoons instead.

Dried Dill adds a little extra bold flavor to the seasoning party.

If you’re not a fan, feel free to substitute it with dried parsley or just leave it out. But if you’re on team dill all day, every day, you might want to also try this dill pickle saltines recipe.

Garlic Powder – Ranch seasoning contains garlic so to make it a real stand out, a touch more is added. It really makes this snack extra addictive.

  3. Stir ranch seasoning, garlic powder and dried dill into the melted butter.

Recipe Notes

  • Use unsalted butter if you have it since the crackers and seasoning mix both contain salt.
  • Cut the stick of butter into large chunks for faster melting.
  • If you don’t have a pre-measured envelope of ranch seasoning, use 3 tablespoons of the jar seasoning.
  • While the crackers are baking, be sure to mix them around a couple times so they come out crispy on all sides.
  • Any crackers that are stuck together after baking, break apart easily.

As a snack. It’s hard to stop at a handful of these tasty crackers. A bowl full makes a nice snack for football watching, family game night, movie night, potlucks and parties.

With soup. I don’t know about you, but having crispy crackers, crusty bread or croutons is a must for soup eating. And these ranch oyster crackers are an absolutely delicious addition to soup, especially tomato.

Crushed into bread crumbs. If you’ve got more crackers than you need, or they are starting to go stale, crush them into bread crumbs. The combination of ranch, dill and garlic make them perfect for coating chicken and pork chops or sprinkling on top of casseroles.
